A day after a North-East woman was molested, a group of lawyers on Friday allegedly beat up two men and a female lawyer in the Tis Hazari Court. According to the account of eyewitnesses, the incident took place when an accused was in court for trial. One of the victims was beaten up in front of the judge, said a social worker present in court at that time.
The woman who was molested is 38-year-old and hails from Nagaland. The entire Friday episode took place when the victim along with other social activists had come to report the accused lawyer. Around 70 lawyers barged inside the courtroom while the report was being filed and tore the police files, said police officials.
Three of the activists said that they were followed after that by the same crowd. One of them, namely Noshi, was a female lawyer at the Saket court. Thinking that the lawyers following her wouldn’t harm her because she is a co-worker, Noshi said that she asked the two men to escape and herself took another route. However, the lawyers ran after her for a while after which they slapped her and threatened to rape her if she pursued the case further. The police then rescued her and brought her to the police station.
