Ejaz lakdawala, a former Dawood’s associate, is believed to be a victim of Dawood’s anger for splitting from the D-company along with Chhota Rajan and setting up a new gang in 2000. His character was shown in Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi-starrer Company movie released in 2002, in which Oberoi had played the role of lakdawala.
According to Crime Branch sleuths, middle aged lakdawala, who at present is believed to be based in North America, was in his early 20s when he went to Dubai with Dawood and younger brother Anis Ibrahim in early 90s.  In Dubai, lakdawala was among the close confidants of Dawood’s D-Company who used to provide logistical support to the company members in Mumbai for extorting Bollywood film producers and businessmen.
Officials told The Pioneer that when lakdawala along with Chota Rajan, another prominent member in D-company, parted their ways and set up another mobster group, then infuriated Dawood ordered his men to kill both of them.  “In the fear of attack by D-company members, he changed his base from Dubai to Bangkok. But in May, 2000, he was spotted by D members and was attacked in a crowded place in Bangkok,” said the officer adding, “after the attack it was believed that he was dead, but he survived and moved to Canada.” He was also once arrested by Canada police but was soon released.
In the movie Company, the character of Chandu played by Vivek Oberoi, was pictured on lakdawala’s life.  An Interpol red corner notice has also been issued against the lakdawala, police said.
