The Delhi Police has registered a case against one famous laser therapy centre called New look Cosmetic Skin laser Centre for hair removal in lajpat Nagar for causing injury to the 26-year-old nephew of a Union Minister.
The youth identified as Himmat Meena, a Gazetted Officer (GO) posted with Indian Railways, had approached the therapy centre for removal of hair from his arms, but received burn injuries. After duping him of Rs 50,000, the therapy centre staff allegedly threatened the victim to withdraw the case. The Delhi Police have registered a case against the clinic. The police were aghast to find that the so-called laser clinic does not have trained qualified hands on board.
In October last year after Himmat faced marriage rejection due to excess hair growth on his arms, he decided to opt for laser therapy. “On October 10, Singh approached the staff of the laser therapy clinic. The clinic management asked him to deposit Rs 38,000 in their account,” a senior police officer said, adding the clinic staff informed him that the entire treatment would take three sittings.
This salon is said to be one of the reputed outlets in South Asian region. The victim, in his plaint, told the police that he sustained burns during the laser treatment on February 26 and was assured of it being a ‘usual’ outbreak. But on February 28, when Himmat again approached them, they threatened him and asked him leave the clinic.
“Himmat later approached the police and registered his complaint. On the basis of the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under Sections 336/35 and 506 of Indian Penal Code at lajpat Nagar police station of southeast Delhi on Monday,” the officer added. “The salon has no qualified doctors and there have been a number of complaints lodged against them in the last one year. Three months ago, a customer from Uttar Pradesh had become an unwitting victim and had approached lajpat Nagar police station,” police sources said.
