l-G Jung deliberately sent Health Secy on leave: Kapil Mishra

Staff Reporter

Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday claimed the Delhi Government was at the receiving end of a “criminal conspiracy” and accused lt-Governor Najeeb Jung of “deliberately” sending the Health Secretary on a 10-day leave. Health Secretary Chandraker Bharti is on leave till September 16 due to Onam festival. His leave was sanctioned by the l-G office on September 6.

However, Secretary (Health) Chandrakar Bharti said that his earned leave was planned two months ago because of his wife surgery. My wife is admitted to hospital for surgery and it was planned leave. “Secretary (GAD) is the link officer of health department who will look after Health Department in the absence of Secretary Health,” Bharti said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain ordered a high-level enquiry into death of five people due to chikungunya.

Earlier at a Press conference, Mishra defended the Government, which is under fire over the spread of vector-borne diseases in the city, saying it has taken all the necessary steps including increasing the number of hospital beds.

He also sought to brazen it out on the issue of Ministers missing in action by underlining the absence of Jung and mayors of two municipal bodies “from the city”.

“This is a criminal conspiracy against the people of Delhi. First the health secy was transferred despite Sisodia’s request not to do so. Then the person who sat on the file of Chinese Manjha ban for six days was made the new Secretary,” he said.

“He refused to meet Health Minister Satyendar Jain time and again since being appointed. And then lG deliberately sent him on a leave of 15 days and himself disappeared. Where did he goIJ” Mishra asked.
