l-G acting like BJP agent: AAP

Staff Reporter

Upping the ante against lieutenant-Governor Anil Biajal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused him of acting like a "BJP agent" and that there is no rule of law in Delhi under the current l-G. Demanding action against those involved in manhandling and beating up of the party's Minister Imran Husain and his aide and Delhi Dialogue Commission Vice-Chairman Ashish Khetan, the AAP leaders alleged that Delhi Police is highly biased against them.

AAP leader Ashutosh said the Delhi Police is prejudiced and has acted against party MlAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, who were arrested on the charge of assaulting Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash on Monday night. He said police acted only on the basis of complaint by the Chief Secretary while those who attacked AAP members and Minister are still roaming free.

It may be noted that the Delhi Police has arrested Jarwal and Khan, AAP MlAs from Deoli and Okhla respectively, for allegedly assaulting Prakash. They were sent to one-day judicial custody.

"On the basis of a baseless complaint by the Chief Secretary, two party MlAs were arrested without evidence while those who beat our Ministers and their aides are yet to be touched," the AAP leader said.

Ashutosh said video proof was available against those involved in manhandling Hussain and beating up his staffer Himanshu Singh at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.

"Everybody has seen the video. Still no FIR was lodged against the culprits," he said.

He accused Baijal of "trying to destabilise Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal Government".

Ashutosh also questioned the veracity of the medico-legal  case (MlC) report of Prakash and said attempts are being made to destabilise the Kejriwal-led Government  by using the alleged attack as a pretext. Noting that the Chief Secretary's medico-legal report Ashutosh  said he is assaulted after midnight, while the CCTV footage from outside Kejriwal residence showed Chief Secretary made the exit at 11.30 pm.

He said there was a possibility of assault on the CS by someone after he left Kejriwal's residence or he could have fallen.

Earlier in the day, AAP Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam was detained as he was moving to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's residence to protest against the alleged casteist remarks made by Prakash against AAP Ambedkar Nagar MlA Ajay Dutt.

"Our Dalit MlA was arrested and not allowed to protest but protests have been going on outside Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's residence for the past two hours," he said.

The party also named a few officials of the Delhi Government, who were allegedly involved in an attack on Hussain and Khetan.

"Why do the l-G, the Delhi Police, the Centre have double standardsIJ  The law is equal for every citizen. So, why no action has been taken against the Chief Secretary for using casteist remarks against our Dalit MlAs," said senior AAP leader and party MP Sanjay Singh.
