The Kolkata Police investing the Narada sting case has once again sent a notice to the news portal CEO Mathew Samuels asking him to report at the lal Bazar police headquarters in Kolkata for interrogation in the alleged bribery case.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier ordered a probe into the sting operation conducted by Narada News in which a host of Trinamool leaders including Ministers and MPs were allegedly seen accepting cash from a journalist faking as a prospective investor in lieu of future favours.
Though the sting operation failed to bring the Trinamool down from power it is known to have shaken its credibility as a party with integrity, experts believe.
The Kolkata Police which has started its own investigation had earlier asked Samuels to appear before it. But the Narada CEO had sent a letter through his advocate saying the case was already subjudice in Calcutta High Court and that he had already submitted all the materials including hard wares to the Court.
The Police however refused to take his argument and asked him to submit himself for interrogation in seven days’ time, sources said.
