'Kiran's a good woman in bad company'

Iknoor Kaur

Brimming with confidence, sporting a broad smile and being unusually carefree, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener ARVIND KEJRIWAl was not his usual self on Thursday, as he hopped from one place to another within the New Delhi Assembly constituency. While on the move during his last campaign in the Capital this election season, the former Chief Minister shared with IKNOOR KAUR his faith in the aam janta, his fondness for Bedi, and BJP’s campaign.

What are your views on Kiran BediIJ Do you think bringing her in as CM candidate was a good move by BJPIJ

n She is a very nice lady. The only problem is that she joined the wrong party. I genuinely feel that she is a very nice woman, who is currently in very bad company. Our doors will always be open for her. I wouldn’t call the BJP’s move to make her the CM candidate wrong, but I think it was a wrong move on her part to have joined the BJP in the first place.

The campaigning is over and in 24 hours, voters would be lining up at polling booths. What are your expectations this timeIJ

n It is very evident, with the love and support that we are getting from the people of Delhi, that we will be forming the Government. There have been challenges but we continue to fight for what we believe in. This time all surveys indicate we are winning. Most importantly, the people of Delhi have made up their minds this time that they will vote for AAP. The Aam Aadmi Party will not only win this time, but will do so with a massive majority.

BJP has been campaigning aggressively against AAP, especially in the past few days with the newspaper adverts and personal attacks. Does that bother youIJ

n I don’t pay heed to them. let BJP do what it wants to. Their campaigning doesn’t help them and in fact, strengthens our credibility. We talk about positive agendas on water, power, education and they are busy targeting me. They have called me all kinds of names. BJP has no agenda to speak of.

AAP has evolved a lot since inception. If voted to power, what are the major changes AAP will bring about in terms of functioning and focusIJ

n I don’t see any reason for us to change our functioning, why should there be any changeIJ We will work the way we do, standing by our ideals and ideology. We will work strongly towards curbing corruption and reducing inflation. We are going to place special emphasis on ensuring education for children and further focus on providing water and electricity to everyone. We will also positively work towards completely stopping the practice of bribery in all forms.
