Frenetic search by the family members about the 14 year-old Mohammed Sehmat, who was injured in the devastating Anaj mandi fire, ended on a tragic note after they found his body in morgue at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital on Monday.

Acquaintances and relatives of the teenager, hailing from Bihar’s Samastipur, had been frantically searching for him since Sunday morning, saying he was present inside the ill-fated building in North Delh’s Anaj Mandi area when the fire broke out.

According to Mohammed Arman, who hails from the same village as Sehmat and works at a furniture factory in Mayapuri in Delhi, he along with others was looking for him everywhere, from hospital to hospital the entire day on Sunday but couldn't find him.

"We had a hope that he might be alive. We went o Lady Harding, Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) and Sucheta Kriplani hospitals to search him but no one knew about him," said Arman.

"This afternoon, I and another person who knew Sehmat, as he was from our village only, we identified his body in the morgue at LNJP Hospital," said Arman in hush tone.

"As many as 34 victims were declared brought dead at the hospital in central Delhi's LNJP hospital while 15 survivors reached there in injured condition. All of the victims were labourers," said doctors.
