Over three weeks after the incident, BMW hit-and-run case accused Vinod Dedha on Tuesday surrendered in Gautam Budh Nagar court.
Dedha had moved an application for surrender earlier this month.
Police had raided his possible hideouts and a non-bailable warrant was also issued against him. The accused, however, dodged the investigators and surrendered in the court.
Dedha was driving a BMW car that killed a biker and injured three others on April 16 in Sector 22. The accused driver had fled from the spot after the accident.
Eyewitnesses said Vinod, who was allegedly drunk, was racing with other cars when the accident occurred.
Neeraj Kumar, SHO Sector 24 police station, said the next hearing is scheduled on May 17. “We will seek police custody of Dedha for probe,” said Kumar.
The family members of deceased Gulfam, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the police probe. Wahid Hussain, Gulfam’s father, alleged that police could not arrest the accused on time because he was influential.
