Kejriwal assures job to Rohith's younger brother

SR

The Arvind Kejriwal Government on Wednesday decided to give a Government job to Raja Vemula, younger brother of Rohith Vemula.

Earlier in the day, the family members and friends of the late Hyderabad University scholar met Kejriwal at his residence. His mother requested the Chief Minister to provide a Government job to her younger son as the family does not have any source of income. Kejriwal assured the family of considering their demand.

In the meeting at Kejriwal’s residence, Rohith’s mother was accompanied by her younger son Raja Vemula who is a

postgraduate in Applied Geology, and Sunkanna Velpula, one of Rohith’s closest friends, among others.

The decision has been vehemently criticised by the Delhi Government’s contratual employees — who accused the Government of reneging on its poll promise to regularise their employment — and political parties.

“Kejriwal has politicised every issue. The entire move is to get political mileage from the death of Rohith Vemula,” said BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, adding that he has failed to provide jobs to people of Delhi. The Government has successfully appointed a large number of its volunteers at various level in the Government,” he said.

The Delhi Cabinet has also approved the Department of Education’s proposal to allow 77 playgrounds of Government schools which are run in single shifts.
