Ending all speculation that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would opt out of the New Delhi constituency this upcoming election, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday announced that the convener of their party would fight the elections from New Delhi once again. The party announced the names of eight more candidates for the Assembly elections. With the new list, the AAP has declared 59 candidates for the 70 Assembly seats so far.

Some of the important names that featured in the list were Kailash Gehlot, who will fight from Najafgarh, Rajendra Dabas from Mundka and Amanatullah Khan from Okhla. Other than these names, Rajendra Gautam will fight from Seemapuri, former Deputy Speaker Fateh Singh will contest from Gokulpuri, SD Sharma from Ghonda and Naresh Balyan from Uttam Nagar. However, as the AAP put out this list on Wednesday, the BJP condemned the party for choosing Amanutullah Khan as its candidate from Okhla Assembly seat. Spokesperson of BJP Delhi Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “By making Khan its candidate, the AAP has shown that the party has no regard for secularism or brotherhood. Khan was jailed for bringing out posters and hoardings which could have created communal disturbances in Delhi.”

AAP had declared the candidature of Adarsh Shastri from Dwarka, Praveen Kumar from Jangpura, Kartar Singh Tanwar from Chattarpur, Manish Sisodia from Patparganj, Rakhi Bidlan from Mangolpuri, Gopal Rai from Babarpur, Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar and Somnath Bharti from Malviya Nagar. The party is expected to release all names by the 2nd week of January.
