Continuing his tirade against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the city Government of which he was a member just two days ago, the former Minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday alleged that demonstration on alleged Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering in the Delhi Assembly was just a move to divert public attention from real issues and corrupt practices in the party.
“The EVM used to demonstrate were dummy and not the same used by the Election Commission for polling. The tactic was to avoid the issues of corruption charges,” Mishra said.
Mishra’s comment came after AAP MlA Saurabh Bharadwaj demonstrated in the Assembly what he said was the manner in which the EVM could be manipulated to cast votes in favour of a particular candidate or party.
AAP MlA Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that anyone knowing a “secret code” can easily tamper with the EVMs by applying it into a machine while casting vote. Bhardwaj, who represents the Greater Kailash constituency, claimed that as an engineer, he had extensively worked in this area and was aware of how the machines can be manipulated.
However, intensifying attack on the Government over not giving details of foreign trips of AAP leaders, Mishra also demanded that the travel details of Sanjay Singh, Aashish Khetan, Raghav Chadda, Durgesh Pathak and Satyender Jain should be made public.
“The Government should reveal the source of funding of foreign trips and passport details of these leaders. Some of the leaders visited several countries on the expense of Government’s money and by using party’s donation,” he said.
Mishra also threatened to go on hunger strike from Wednesday if the party does not disclose the information.
