Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have solved the blind murder of a man with the arrest of two persons. On May 30, body of a man, in his mid forties, was found lying in a drain in the Kapashera area of Southwest Delhi.
Surender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) said, “The accused have been identified as Rudal (28) and his friend Prakash (35).”
On May 30, police had received information about the body of a man lying in a drain. Following which, they had seized the body and put up posters across all areas in Delhi.
Two days after the body of the man was found, his son, who came to Delhi in search of his father, saw the posters and approached the Kapashera police station. Upon enquiry, the identity of the deceased was established as Om Prakash (35).
"During the course of investigation, the son of victim Om Prakash informed us that his father lives with their relative Rudal. Rudal was subsequently questioned and asked why he did nothing to find his uncle despite the posters put up by the police.
Rudal eventually broke down and confessed that on the night of May 29, he and his uncle Om Prakash, who works as a small time tailor in Haryana's Kundahera were consuming alcohol. Drunk, the duo got into a verbal brawl after Om Prakash abused Rudal.
In a heat of rage, Rudal choked Om Prakash by strangling him. After killing his uncle, Rudal called his friend Prakash for assistance. They took the body of Om Prakash in a cart and dumped it a drain," said a senior police officer.
Police further said that they have recovered the two mobile phones of the deceased from the possession of the accused.
