She found that the juvenile was watching TV and asked him when he woke up,” a senior police officer said.

Police said that the 35-year-old Sunita had three sons. She slapped him and scolded him for sleeping till so late. Infuriated with this, the juvenile became violent and strangled his mother to death. later, he dragged her to another room and went outside the home. After an hour, the 15-year-old younger son of the victim came home and found his mother was lying on a bed. After he failed to wake her up, he alerted neighbours who in turn called his father. “The victim was taken to the Vinayak Hospital in Gujranwala Town, where she was declared brought dead by doctors. The body was later sent to Babu Jag Jeevan Ram Hospital for postmortem. However, the initial report suggested that she was throttled to death,” the officer added.

The PCR call was made by the hospital authorities and later the investigation was taken up by the police. During investigation, police questioned all the family members and it emerged that at the time of incident, the elder son of the victim was present at home.

“Investigators zeroed on the 17-year-old son, who initially tried to mislead the cops. He told the police he was playing outside the home and was not aware about anything. But after the sustained interrogation, he broke down and admitted that he killed his mother,” an officer said. He has been detained on the charges of murder.
