A 27-year-old man was allegedly brutally stabbed to death by a juvenile for slapping a person for not getting him food at a bhandara in South-East Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar, police said on Tuesday.

The incident happened last week when the deceased, identified as Sanjay, and his friend Imran went to a closeby bhandara in Madangir area in Ambedkar Nagar to eat food but was denied by the owner, who has been identified as Vijay.

According to a senior police official, at 4.30 pm when Sanjay and Imran were passing by the bhandara at Madangir park, they saw that meat was being served. “Sanjay then asked the bhandara owner Vijay to serve him and his friend some meat to which he replied saying that the food was for the consumption of only his guests and not for random people,” said the official.

Sanjay then told Vijay that it was not food but god’s ‘prasad’ and it should be distributed to everyone. Vijay still refused to serve him meat and said that he would not get any food. “Getting angry at the comment, Sanjay slapped Vijay in the face. Vijay started abusing the duo and immediately called his two juvenile brothers and asked them to beat Sanjay up,” said the official.

While one of the two juveniles caught the victim from behind the other picked up his meat knife and kept on stabbing Sanjay till he collapsed. Imran tried to stop but right then he was attacked by Vijay with a knife. Vijay then allegedly threatened Imran.

After committing the crime, the two juveniles and the accused fled from the spot. Imran called police who came to the spot and rushed Sanjay to a hospital. Sanjay succumbed to his injuries the next day.
