Inspired by a Bollywood movie where four persons kidnapped a minor boy for ransom, a juvenile allegedly kidnapped a four-year-old boy of his employer for ransom near the latter’s house in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area. Delhi Police on Tuesday claim to have solved the kidnapping case within 12 hours.
During questioning, the juvenile confessed that after his mother died three months back, and four days back he was kicked out of house by his sister-in-law, he was rendered penniless. Desperate to earn money, he came to Delhi from Bareilly. However, after struggling for a long time to get a job, he thought that kidnapping a child could be an easy way to make quick money.
Police said that the juvenile recently saw a South Indian movie dubbed in Hindi where four people had kidnapped a boy and demanded ransom, he said, adding that the film motivated him to kidnap the minor boy. On February 20, around noon, a four-year-old boy, who resides in Kalyanpuri, was allegedly kidnapped by the juvenile from his house, said Omvir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
The boy’s parents approached police around 7 pm following which a case under section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Kalyanpuri police station.
After interrogating the locals, the team zeroed on the juvenile who used to work at the home of the father of the boy but had left the job after the demise of his mother, said the DCP.
He had moved to his native place Badaun, in Uttar Pradesh after leaving the job and had recently returned to Delhi in search of a job and had taken up a minor job at the boy’s father’s house. The boy’s family received ransom calls demanding `3 lakh to be delivered to Bareilly. The juvenile allegedly sent a message threatening to abandon the child if his plan was disturbed.
In another message sent by the juvenile, he assured the parents that their child had been served dinner and will not be harmed if the money was paid on time.
