Two days after a 32-year-old business executive Siddhartha Sharma was killed by a speeding car in north Delhi’s Civil lines area, the Delhi Police issued a challan of Rs 1,000 to the owner of the car, Manoj Agarwal, under section 5/181 of Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) for allowing unauthorised person to drive.

The car was being driven by Agrawal’s 17-year-old son who was earlier detained by police to be released on bail.

Police have not ruled out that this could be a case of drunken driving but refrained from commenting on the matter prior to medico-legal counselling.

According to police, the incident took place around 8.55 pm on Monday when Sharma’s friend dropped him near an eatery in Civil lines area. While he was about to cross the intersection near ludlow Castle School there, a speeding Mercedes hit him.
