To consult ‘others’ before dispatching detailed report to Prez

In what could pave the way for a possible Government formation in Delhi, lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday said he would consult the BJP and the Congress over the current political situation in the Capital. In a statement issued after meeting 25 MlAs of Aam Aadmi Party on Monday, the lG said he would consult ‘others’ and send in a detailed report to the President of India after taking into account the complete situation. This assumes significance as the BJP has maintained repeatedly that it would explore the feasibility of forming the Government if invited by the lG.

“The lieutenant Governor has said that he will take into account the full situation and after due consultations with others, send in a detailed report to the President of India for his consideration,” said a Press statement issued by the lG office after the meeting.

Kejriwal too said his meeting with the lG was ‘good’ and that the lG would now invite the BJP for discussion. “The lieutenant Governor will now invite BJP for discussions and if the party claims that they can form the Government, and then he will ask it to show the numbers,” Kejriwal said after the meeting that lasted for nearly 25 minutes. In the meeting, Kejriwal demanded from the lG immediate dissolution of the legislative Assembly and order fresh elections.

“We told him (Jung) that delay in dissolving Assembly was encouraging horse-trading,” Kejriwal tweeted soon after the meeting. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said his party demanded fresh polls ‘as soon as possible’ as Government formation in the current scenario was not possible. The AAP leader said as Congress has already announced that all its eight MlAs will neither take nor give support to anyone, there was no possibility of Government formation.
