JNU to invite Modi?

Staff Reporter

A group of students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has decided extend invitation of BJP’s Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to visit the campus. A member of the group said the move is present the actual views of the students as some vested interest of the student union ran a sustained anti-Modi campaign. Opposing the anti-Modi ideology of JNUSU, member of the committee Amba Shankar Bajpai on Monday said the students of the college are not swayed by the political opinions of the student leaders. He said, “For over a month, we have witnessed some of the ugliest campaigns against Modi at JNU. This came from certain quarters of JNUSU. The JNU Student Community wants to stand up for the students of the university and say that they have not surrendered their voice to the brokers of campus politics. Today every student of this university will speak for himself or herself. Our nation awaits the leadership of Narendra Modi to usher in an era of “a better tomorrow”. This would clearly need a complete overhaul of existing defunct institutions.”

“We want him to interact with students of JNU one-on-one,” he added. In a statement issued by the “JNU Students Committee” said, “We invite Narendra Modi to come to our campus and present before us his vision and his approach towards the problems and challenges of nation building in India. His presence here would act as a freeing force for us from the darkness of self destructive politics carried on by few ignorant comrades.”
