Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration on Monday formed a team to look into demands of students who are on hunger strike against punishment in connection with the controversial February 9 event.
In yet another appeal, the administration has asked the students to call off the strike and come forward to hold discussion of their demands with a team formed by Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar.
The team consists of Rector-1, Rector-II, Dean of Students and Registrar. “Students and teachers are urged to end the hunger strike immediately due to worsening weather conditions and deteriorating health of the students. Solutions can be found only through peaceful dialogue and discussion and not through measures that can also have long term impact on health and adversely affect the academic life on campus,” said the Public Relations Officer, JNU Poonam Kudaisya in a statement.
JNU Student’s Union and Teacher’s Union said they will discuss “collectively” whether to begin discussion with the team or not.
