Staff Reporter

The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) on Friday started its admission process for the academic session 2018-19. The online admission forms and e-prospectus for all courses run by the JMI are now available on its website www.jmi.ac.in

The last date to apply for admission is March 07, 2018. The session would commence from August 1, 2018. JMI offers a wide range of programmes at graduate, postgraduate and research levels. Students are advised to refer prospectus for important dates and examination schedule.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Talat Ahmad launched an Online PhD Portal on Friday through which PhD scholars in Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and their supervisors can keep a track on the progress of the student’s thesis from anywhere without travelling to the university.

While inaugurating the PhD portal, the Vice-Chancellor said that it fulfills a major mission of his administration towards ‘digitisation’ and ‘paperless’ functioning of the university. The Vice-Chancellor said that the PhD portal will increase efficiency and transparency as well as save the candidates’ time. He requested the Deans to conduct faculty-wise training to help teachers become well-versed in using the portal efficiently from this academic session.

Prof Ahmad said that he was happy to note that JMI had not only digitised the entire admission process but has also increased the regional diversity of its students by conducting entrance exams at 7 centres across the country.

The digitisation of the admission process has enabled students from far-flung and rural areas to apply to the university with ease.

After submitting the thesis, PhD candidates will be issued an activation code and password by the office of the Controller o the Examination allowing them to log-in to the portal. Once logged in, the scholars will be required to fill-up a form and upload all necessary documents on the portal. Once log-in has been successfully done and document submission completed in all respects, the student and supervisor can check the stage of thesis evaluation including whether the external examiners have sent their report to the university or not.
