Jamia Millia Islamia has taken a lead in Delhi for carrying out the Modi Government’s ambitious Digital India campaign through its 3,500 National Service Scheme (NSS) student volunteers by holding a day-long workshop on the campus.

Inaugurating the workshop a day ago, Vice-Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad said the Government’s decision to select Jamia in Delhi for this purpose is an indication that it has full faith in the university because “whatever task is given to us, we do it faithfully and with utmost sincerity”.

As far as digitalisation is concerned, the V-C said it is a good idea as it not only makes for smooth functioning of the system but also results in lesser use of papers in offices.

Professor Ahamd said since he took over as the V-C of the university, the campus has gone digital in a big way.

“The admission process and examinations have gone digital. Earlier students used to travel to Delhi to fill up forms and take another trip to Delhi to write entrance exams. Now, they can fill their forms online from any part of the country and save both time and money,” said the V-C.

Also, Professor Ahmad lauded the work done by the NSS volunteers and hoped that they would help in making Modi’s Digital India campaign a grand success.

Professor  NU. Khan, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Jamia, said the workshop was successful as more than 220 NSS volunteers were trained.
