Failure in politics, callous husband, tedious divorce proceedings, and death of her father are stated to be the prime reasons for BSP MP Dhananjay Singh’s wife Jagriti’s mental condition, according to the investigators.
The senior resident at the Dental Surgery Department of Dr Ram Manohar lohia is a psychiatric patient and is under treatment of a Delhi-based psychiatrist, added the source. According to a police official, Jagriti had contested 2012 UP Assembly elections independently from the Rari seat in Jaunpur district and polled 50,000 votes.
The seat was won by the ruling Samajwadi Party, while the Bahujan Samaj Party’s candidate got 40,000 votes only. Despite her husband being the local MP from BSP, she couldn’t get the party nomination and this made her angry.
It started reflecting in her behaviour as she started inflicting brutality on her domestic helps. Sources said that her husband had filed a divorce petition some six months ago in the Patiala House courts. She was worried about the future of her three-old-son and this may have turned her into a brute.
