An Indian Telecom Services (ITS) official, posted with the Delhi Government on deputation, was attacked by three boys on Saturday for raising voice against molestation in Noida Sector’s 62.
Police said the victim, a Deputy General Manager (DGM) rank official, was targeted when molesters on a bike fired bullets at his car in an act of brazen defiance. The official sustained injury to his face and was admitted to Fortis Hospital while his wife and son, also in the car when the incident took place, escaped unhurt. A case has been registered but no arrests have been made as yet.
The incident was reported late evening on Saturday when Sushil Kumar, his son Kunal and wife were on their way from Telephone Exchange to Shipra Mall in Ghaziabad in a Swift Dzire. When their car was between NRI and Model Town police post, Sushil saw two girls being molested by three lads. The official got out of his car and warned the boys to leave the girls alone. Piqued, the molesters shot at the car with the motive to kill Sushil’s family.
Sushil suffered injury to his face as one of the bullets grazed past him. The other four other bullets hit the car’s door. Passersby made a PCR call and rushed Sushil to Fortis.Police cordoned off the area but failed to apprehend the accused. A case was also registered against unidentified youths under various sections of IPC at Sector 58 police station.
“We have been scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the accused. We are also taking help of surveillance to carry forward our investigation. Although the girls did not file a molestation complaint, we have slapped molestation charges as well,” said Anoop Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Noida).
