The State Health Department would be launching Aadhar-enabled bio-metric attendance system (AEBAS) in all Delhi Government hospitals in order to ensure punctuality and discipline of all doctors and other hospital staff.

It is likely to be introduced from next week. Recently, many complaints were received against the doctors and other staffs reporting late at the outpatient department (OPD) during morning hours, due to which many patients had to suffer without any treatment.

A senior official of the Health Department said, “With AEBAS, it will be easy to track the regularity of the doctors and other staffs” and added that it will help in smooth and easy functioning of the hospitals.Currently, only the Central Government offices have the AEBAS. The implementation of the process is expected to start from the next week, the official added.

While, the successful trail of AEBAS was held at the official’s chamber among all the staff members.

To implement the process quickly, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has approved a small device for this new service, said the official.

Till now, only a few hospitals such as lok Nayak and lal Bahadur Shastri Hospitals have biometric attendance system. “We are centralising our work and anybody from anywhere can trace the status of the report” said the official. The Delhi Government has issued the notification to the doctors and staff of all the State run hospitals to report on time and be punctual for their work, the official added.
