The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has busted an international syndicate, involved in circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) into various parts of India, including the national Capital.  They have arrested one member of the gang and recovered FICN worth Rs 3 lakh in the denomination of  Rs 2,000 notes.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Special Cell Pramod Singh Kushwah said, “The arrested person has been identified as Narendra Singh. He has been circulating fake currency in India for the last four years.”

There was an information that Narender, a key member of the syndicate, would come near the Red Fort metro station on Tuesday about  4 to 5 pm to deliver a consignment of FICN to his contact, the officer said.

A Police team laid a trap near Red Fort Metro Station and accused was apprehended at about 4:30 pm later, it was found that FICN is being pumped in various parts of India through porous border in Malda of West Bengal.

During the interrogation, accused Narender has disclosed that he is supplying the FICN for the last 3-4 years. In 2016, he was arrested by the Rajasthan Police with FICN of Rs 1,000/- denomination. Due to demonetization, he was not getting the FICN of new currency in the first half of 2017.

However in the second half, he again started the business of FICN as he started getting the FICN of new currency notes from Farraka, West Bengal. All the recovered FICN notes are of fine quality and it is very difficult to distinguish fake notes from the original notes, Kushwah said.
