Initial observations in the first autopsy report of the North-Eastern boy Nido Tania, the son of an Arunachal Pradesh MlA, reveal that there were abrasions on his head, neck and face, including swelling in the brain which confirms death by brutal beating, sources said. However, it was added that the final report is awaited as the samples have been sent to CBI’s Central Forensic Science laboratory.
A student and member of the committee which organised the protest also claimed, “The report confirms death by violent beating. There were abrasions on the neck, face and head with minor internal bleeding in the neck and swelling in the brain. The swelling is usually is result of violent shaking of the brain, which in this case is punching and strong blows on his head using a stick.”
“This automatically leads to edema (water) in lungs which caused blockage of respiratory system and imminent death thereof,” said Dapao, a protester, quoting the post-mortem report during the protest at Jantar Mantar, by North-Eastern students demanding justice against the racial discrimination that led to the killing of 19-year-old Tania. The AIIMS forensic department, which has already handed the report over to the Investigating Officer (IO) in the matter, refused to confirm any findings and cause of death. “Samples have been sent to the CBI CFSl for testing and the process would take time. We cannot say anything until then. Viscera examination report is also awaited,” said Dr Amit Gupta, spokesperson, AIIMS.
