'Housewife' Tina claims no role in ADAG affairs

Staff Reporter

Reliance ADAG Chairman’s wife, Tina Ambani, on Friday told the Special CBI court, trying the 2G Spectrum case, that she had no role in the affairs of the company. “I am a housewife, run a hospital and do a lot of social work. I have never been associated with Reliance ADAG,” she stated before Special CBI Judge OP Saini.

During proceedings, when she recalled names of some companies belonging to ADAG — the judge while referring to Anil Ambani saying (on Thursday) that he was unable to recall most of the things — told Tina, “Your memory is better than your husband’s.” On Thursday, Anil Ambani had told the court that he could not recall names of companies like Swan Telecom and investments worth around `990 crore.

Further, when special prosecutor UU lalit asked about top officials of ADAG, including Gautam Joshi, who is facing trial in the case, Tina said, “I know them socially as they work for the companies of Reliance ADA Group. However, I don’t know in what capacity they are working. I haven’t interacted with them. Tina Ambani also added that she didn’t know the other accused Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

“Please tell the judge that whatever I said is true. I did not conceal anything,” Tina told a court staff.

During the trial, some documents of ADA Group of companies, including that of Swan Telecom, were shown to her and she acknowledged her signatures on them. She recorded her statement for nearly one-and-a-half hours.

No defence lawyers cross-examined her.
