Following an ongoing dispute regarding Friday prayers in open spaces at Sector-12 of Gurugram, a local Hindu man has created an example of brotherhood by offering his land for religious rituals of the local Muslim community.

Akshay Rao, who lives in the neighbourhood, took this initiative in view of the problems faced by the Muslim community due to objections raised by different Hindu outfits to Friday prayers in open spaces.

More than 25 people can offer prayers at the land offered by Akshay Rao.

“Such initiative can help to maintain harmony in the society. I will also provide the roof of my property, where every Friday some people can comfortably offer prayers until the arrangement of conducting prayers is not done,” Rao said.

This initiative of Rao is being praised a lot on social media.

“It is a responsibility of each and citizen of Indian to main law and order situation. It was my little step toward helping people. I welcomed Muslim people to offer Namaz at my place,” Rao said.

Due to an objection raised by Hindu outfits regarding Friday prayer in open spaces in Sector-12 of Gurugram, the Muslim representative had demanded that the district administration should open the 19 mosques under the Waqf Board, which are currently unused so that they can offer prayers in those mosques.

For the past several weeks, there has been a dispute in Gurugram regarding the prayer every Friday due to which 50% of open prayers have been closed.

In Sector 12 of Gurugram, where Friday prayers were held, Govardhan Puja and the community kitchen (Bhandara) was organised by Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti on November 5.

Haji Shehzad Khan, the chairman of Muslim Ekta Manch, while welcoming the initiative of Akshay Rao, said It’s a good initiative that a Hindu brother nearby gave his place to offer Friday prayers. There is a dispute regarding open Namaz in sector 12 of Gurugram, We are peace-loving people and do not want to disturb law and order. It’s a good move”.
