Haryana begins to release Delhi's water share: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Wednesday announced that his Government has begun to release Delhi’s share of water from the controversial Munak Canal. Khattar, while addressing a rally in outer Delhi’s Bijwasan constituency for BJP candidate Sat Prakash Rana, also took a jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by mocking its “Aam Aadmi” tag.

However, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani avoided any comments on the AAP in her rally in Mundka and rather focused on PM Narendra Modi’s good governance, Jan-Dhan Yojana and other Centrally-sponsored schemes for the welfare of the common people.

Talking in the line of BJP’s chief ministerial nominee Kiran Bedi, Khattar too talked of alignment between the Centre and Delhi for which he urged the residents to vote on the ‘lotus’ symbol. As Bijwasan shares its border with Haryana, he explained how making the BJP win in Delhi would benefit both the States.

“The BJP ruled Haryana Government has given Delhi its share of water putting an end to around five years of inter-State fight which was fanned by the UPA and Sheila Dikshit’s Governments. If there is the same party in the Governments of neighbouring States as well as at the Centre then problems will be solved easily,” he said.  To connect with the public Khattar told them he himself was a resident in the area for several years.
