Harsh Vardhan vows Development Authority like DDA

SR

Chief Ministerial candidate of Delhi BJP Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that he would set up a separate Development Authority in the Capital if the party is voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

He claimed that the Authority will work on the lines of the existing Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for the all-round development of unauthorised colonies and rural areas. Besides, the party also boasted of having the support of nearly four lakh first-time voters in the Capital.

The Authority is expected to change the system of providing facilities like education, health, road, transport, sewerage, power and water to people, especially those living in unauthorised colonies and villages. “There are 1,639 unauthorised colonies in Delhi and 400 urban and rural villages. The condition in these villages is worse than the villages of other backward States. In the last 15 years, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit did not try to solve the problems of the 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies, urban and rural villages in the city. The Delhi Government has not yet carried forward registration of properties in unauthorised colonies which Delhi Chief Minister had promised long back. Power outages are common in these areas and the quality of water supply is poor,” said Vardhan.

Meanwhile, a door-to-door contact programme carried out by the party has revealed that about four lakh first-time voters shall vote in favor of BJP. “Youth above the age of 18 years have raised their voice against corruption by Congress. They are also suffering due to spiralling prices, which have doubled with a stagnant income over the past decade. This has adversely affected the thinking of the youth. Hence, the youth has resolved to bring BJP Government in Delhi and end Congress misrule,” Vardhan said.
