Two bike lifters were arrested from here and 12 motorcycles seized from their possession, police said. Based on a tip-off, the two, identified as Dhanesh and Vishal, were arrested on Saturday near Vaishali Hindon river canal culvert, police said.
Upon interrogation, they confessed to having lifted several motorcycles from NCR. Police said the duo used to lift motorcycles parked negligently outside hospitals, parks, railways stations and malls. The accused were residing in Ghaziabad as tenants under Vijay Nagar PS area, SHO Indirapuram Haridayal Singh Yadav said.
In order to live a lavish lifestyle, the duo used to both steal expensive bikes and later on sold them for a meagre amount ranging between Rs5,000-Rs10,000. Numberplates of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra were affixed on the recovered motorcycles.
