The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will soon begin the construction of its first super multi-speciality hospital in Sector 67. The hospital — to be constructed on 10 acre — is estimated to cost around Rs 1 thousand crore.
The construction of the proposed 350-bed super multi-speciality hospital was scheduled to start within one year. It was approved by the State Government in the financial year 2016-17 with a budget of Rs 1 thousand crore.
The hospital will consist of 15 to 16 floors with modern medical facilities like intensive care unit, high-tech special rooms for patients, separate wards for male and female patients, special labs, pathology department and outpatient department.
The need for multi-speciality hospital was being felt owing to the increasing urbanisation. Currently the cyber city has two Government hospitals, one of which is situated in the middle of the city and second is in Sector-10.
“The proposal has been finalised. We will provide affordable to the patients. MCG has taken the land on lease for 99 years from HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority). Hope construction will be start soon.
“It will be a boon for many patients who are unable to meet high medical expenses,” Senior Town and Country planner, Sudhir Chauhan said. “We have asked Request for papers (RFP) from the private agencies who are interested to run hospital. “In Gurugram there are a couple of multicare hospitals but poor people cannot afford their medical expenses,” he added.
Meanwhile officials with the department said the hospital will also have a helipad so that patients from other parts of India can come here via air ambulance and be treated there.
According to sources, government hospitals do not cater to the large population of Gurugram and nearby areas.
In the absence of a Government super multi-speciality hospital in Gurugram, patients from nearby areas like Sohna, Patudi, Farrukhnagar and other adjoining districts are often forced to travel to other private hospitals.
The upcoming multi-speciality hospital will help them to get good quality medical treatment.
