In order to encourage public- police interface, the Gurugram Police has decided to open a free registration help desk at all police stations across the city. The initiative aims to build trust between the police and the citizens of Gurugram.
Manish Sehgal, Assistant Commissioner of Police and the spokesperson of Gurugram Police said “We will deploy educated youths on the help desk who were expert in communication skills and will give them special communication training so that they can help people in a better way”.
“In the coming days, we will get the list of the youths from the Employment department. When the victims will see a non-police person on the help desk they can share their problems without hesitation with them,” Sehgal.
According to the provision, once the complaint registered, it will be forwarded to the regarding officer for quick action. These help desks will be open 24x7 for any assistance.
A senior police official said that teams of eight youths will work in three shifts at 25 police stations which are presently functional under the Gurugram Police Commissionrate.
“To implement this scheme, the police department has asked for a detailed list of educated youths from the employment department and after their training, they will be deployed on the help desks. These youths will work 100 hours a month and will get Rs 9,000 from the Government. The police are expecting that around 200 youths will get this opportunity,” he said.
“It is a good initiative by the police. Sometimes police personnel are unable to spend times with the victims because of busy schedule and in such a situation, these desks will definitely help common man to express their concern,” a complainant said.
“This is a better way to improve your image in normal public. A non-police official can understand problems and will do all his efforts to help victims, Rohit Sahu, another complainant, said.
