A new administrative tower will soon be constructed in Gurugram, where all Government departments will conduct their routine work. This tower will be built in the area adjoining Mini-Secretariat near Rajiv Chowk.
The decision was taken by Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Keshni Anand Arora who had recently addressed a meeting of the officers concerned in Gurugram, about the construction of this administrative tower and other activities related to the district administration.
A senior district official said the Admin tower will be built in which all government departments will be shifted so that people do not have any difficulty in getting their works done.
Since 2010, the district administration has been looking at an alternative site for shifting some of the administrative departments or construct a new building altogether as they had noticed Mini-secretariat incapable to handle the rush of visitors.
“We have formed a committee that will compile a layout plan for the building. The plan will include allocating spaces for parking space, residential areas for officials and staff, community centres, HRERA Bhawan, the building area of Excise and Taxation Department and the routes leading to the tower,” said the official spokesperson of the district administration.
In this committee, besides the SDM of Gurugram North, District Revenue Officer and representatives of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will be involved.
Officials said the tower can have three levels of basement parking and that the existing vacant land opposite the mini secretariat can be utilised for constructing a multilevel parking space. Besides, traffic police will prepare a traffic plan for this area.
The committee will also decide which officers need to be shifted to the administrative tower and which will remain in the mini-secretariat.
At present, the mini secretariat, the main office of the administration. It houses the officers of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), the Deputy Commissioner of Police (west), the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), the Food and Supply Departement, the Employment Department, the Revenue Department, the Labour Department, the Transport Department, and the Education Department. The mini-secretariat approx sees a daily footfall of more than 2,500 people on a daily basis.
