In a bid to curb overloading of vehicles and review the position of mining in the district, Gurgaon District Administration has constituted a three-member committee of officers who will keep a watch on the movement of overloaded vehicles conducting a jointly checking at least twice a month.
The directions have been given by Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, PC Meena, while presiding over a meeting to review the position of mining in the district. Meena expressed concern over the free movement of overloaded vehicles in Gurgaon and said that this should be stopped strictly from now. He felt that these overloaded vehicles not only became a cause of road accidents but also were responsible for damaging of roads because roads were constructed with certain specifications on which load up to a certain limit can be carried or transported.
He constituted a three-member committee consisting Secretary RTA, District Mining Officer and ACP South for checking overloaded vehicles and taking strict action against them.
He directed these officers to conduct joint inspection at least twice a month, in addition to separate vigil by them during the month. He said that challans will be issued and heavy penalties will be levied on the overloaded vehicles. The Police Officers can also take legal action against the overloaded vehicles under various provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
