The Delhi Traffic Police rescued yet another life by providing a Green Corridor to a vehicle carrying a liver for transplantation at All India Institute of  Medical Sciences (AIIMS) flown in from Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Delhi Traffic Police reverted to the request made by the doctors of AIIMS to provide green corridor to the vehicle in the wee hours of the day. The liver was relayed to Delhi from Chandigarh via Jet Airways flight No.9W2666. The flight left Chandigarh at 9.45 am and was supposed to arrive at IGI Airport at 10.45 am. The relocation took place when almost all Delhi roads have peak hour office traffic.

“The corridor from IGI Airport to AIIMS consisted some of the busiest stretches like NH8, Rao Tula Ram Marg, Ring Road, NDSE, etc. Apart from having high volume of traffic these stretches also witness the movement of VVIPs to and from the IGI Airport throughout the day”, Deputy Commissioner of  Police (DCP) Traffic Vijay Singh said.

“Keeping in view the critical nature of the assignment, Delhi Traffic Police swiftly swung into action and alerted all its personnel enroute from IGI Airport to AIIMS, New Delhi. After clearing the security checks the vehicle carrying the liver departed for AIIMS at 1117 hrs and covered the distance of 18.5 kms through the middle of the thickest traffic in just 23.10 minutes.” said the  DCP (Traffic).
