In a bid to escalate the impact of the anti-dengue campaign, the Delhi Government has decided to seek participation from the Resident Welfare Association (RWAs) of Delhi to contain the vector borne diseases in the National Capital.
Following a huge participation from the citizens of Delhi in the third week of the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute anti-dengue campaign of the Delhi government, the 10-week mass awareness campaign enters into its fourth week. Last year, the RWAs played a huge role to combat Dengue.
"Right now, we are dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic, but it is also the season of dengue and the cases are significantly increasing. We have re-launched the '10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute Har Ravivar Dengue Par Vaar' this season and this is the third week of our anti-dengue campaign. I hope that the people must be checking their houses this year as well. We do not want people to suffer from Dengue and we have to be conscious about both Dengue and Coronavirus," Kejriwal had said.
Kejriwal also said, "Citizens must help in spreading awareness about measures to prevent Dengue. They must pick up the phone and call 10 of their friends and relatives and advise them on the good practices of preventing Dengue, such as draining stagnant water and replacing it. They must also advise their friends and relatives to take all measures to remain safe from Coronavirus."
This week the key focus of the Delhi government would be on the participation of the RWAs.
Last year, through the participation of the RWAs and other organisations, only 2036 cases and two deaths as against 15867 cases and 60 deaths in 2015. The first edition of the anti-dengue campaign was launched in 2019.
This year, the Delhi government has also launched a telephonic helpline - 01123300012 and WhatsApp helpline - 8595920530 to assist the general public for dengue.
