As Rail Budget for 2016-2017 does not have the proposal for hike in passengers’ fare, a section of passengers feel that Government should have increased the railway fare. According to them, if people are paying more fare, they will get quality and robust facilities not only in super express trains but also in passenger trains as well.

Rahul Jain, who de-boarded a train coming from Kolkata on Thursday at New Delhi Railway Station, said, “Government should have increased the fare this time. After all, they take money from us to provide us optimum facility. Many passengers who destroy the coaches, for them it will be a lesson that if we are spending from our pocket, then we should not damage public property.”

Another passenger, Suresh Jena, who de-boarded the Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express said the increased fare will not allow two passengers on one berth. “Many a times, we see that people do travel by following any unfair method.” Citing his real experience Jena said, “Once I was travelling from Goa to Bhubaneswar, a passenger was travelling without ticket after which he got a ticket by paying a bribe to Ticket Examiner (TTE),” said Jena, who hails from the Angul district of Odisha.
