Reacting on the Budget presented by Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee alleged that the Government has failed to spend 20 per cent of estimated planned expenditure showing its lack of interest in development.
Sharmistha Mukherjee said “According to the economic survey, Delhi’s economic growth has slowed down for the first time in 5 years from 8.82% in 2015-16 to 8.26% in 2016-17. The revenue receipts have fallen short by Rs 4,468.93 crores than the estimate”.
She also maintained “we fear that Delhi might become a fiscal deficit state from a surplus state with revenue shortfall of nearly Rs 4,500 crores.
“The AAP Government takes pride in allegedly doing ‘great’ work in the field of health and education but in this budget, the Government has stated that 10,000 new beds will be added this financial year. However, previous records reveal that this claim is nothing but a ‘jumla’. The Government has allocated 24% of the budget for education but failed to spend the amount ear-marked for last year, Mukherjee added.
