Staff Reporter

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Rai on Wednesday confirmed the alliance between its student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangarsh Samiti (CYSS) and All India Student Association (AISA) to contest the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) polls on September 12.

Rai said, “The joint panel of CYSS and AISA will contest the polls for bringing in change, better education and other facilities in the Delhi University.”

According to the AAP’s Delhi convener, while the All India Students Association (AISA) will contest for the posts of president and vice-president, the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) will field candidates for the secretary and joint secretary posts in the elections.

Saying that the alliance has been formed to provide change, he said, “DU students are fed up with ‘muscle power’ and ‘money power’ in Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections. Students want a change for better education and facilities. With the alliance of CYSS and AISA, there will be the beginning of positivity in student politics.”

AAP leader further said that in DUSU elections two years ago, the party’s student wing got around 12000 votes while AISA swung between 10000 and 12000 votes.

Interestingly, hitting back on him, Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) said that the students across the country have rejected the politics of AAP.
