A minor Dalit girl who put herself on fire after being raped by a local youth in Ghaziabad is fighting for life with 50 per cent burn injuries at a local hospital.
According to police, Babloo Yadav, an MBA student in Ghaziabad, barged into the victim’s house on Wednesday when she was alone. He bolted the room from inside and raped the girl while his accomplice Rencho Yadav stood guard outside, said police. In the meantime, victim’s brother returned home and tried to catch the accused but they escaped after threatening him with a pistol. Parents of the girl also reached home and identified the two accused.
The girl bolted herself inside the house and set herself on fire by pouring kerosene over herself. She has been admitted to MMG Hospital where her condition is said to be critical.
“We have arrested one of the two accused and the hunt is on for the other. I have asked the inspector to refer the victim to Delhi since her condition is grave and family unable to take her to Delhi,” said Salman Taj Patil, SP City Ghaziabad.
