Showing immense fortitude, a 19-year-old girl thwarted a gang-rape bid by putting up a fight against three of her neighbours who abducted her and took her to a nearby thicket. The girl was abducted by three men around 8 pm on Wednesday when she went to fetch water from a tap near her home in South Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri area.

“The girl fought back when the men tried to rape her. When she resisted, they badly beat her up. But the girl fobbed off the advances and managed to get away,” said a police officer.

When she reached home, the girl informed her parents about her ordeal. The parents later approached police. The girl suffered injuries on her head and is currently admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for medical treatment. Based on the girl’s complaint, a case under appropriate Sections has been registered against the accused.

“A case regarding the incident has been registered and hunt is on for the culprits, who fled from their homes after the incident,” the officer added.
