The Gurgaon District Magistrate has directed toll operator Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity limited (DGSCl) to mount superior CCTV cameras at their toll plazas within 10 days.

Gurgaon District Magistrate Shekhar Vidyarthi directed the managers and owners of toll plazas that the CCTV cameras should have data storage capacity of at least one month. According to him, there are seven points for collection of toll tax on National Highways, inter-State roads and other concerned roads passing through Gurgaon.

“It has been brought to the notice of the district administration that these toll tax collection points have not been equipped with CCTV cameras despite their absolute necessity. There have been many reports of crime in the State in the recent past. In some cases, criminals try to escape to neighbouring districts or cities by using inter-district roads or city roads,” the order said.

“During investigation, they are hard to identify due to absence of any videographed clue. Hence, it is of utmost importance that CCTV cameras be installed at all toll plazas, so that in case of any crime near these points, the culprits can be traced or detected easily with the help of CCTV footage,” said the DM. Officials said the toll operator has been directed to comply with orders with immediate effect and a team has been constituted to monitor the same. “If any toll plaza operator is found violating our orders, we will take strict action against him,” Vidyarthi added.
