Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is facing an acute shortage of officers as 17 of its officers and engineers have been transferred to other places by the State Government.

GDA Secretary Ravendra Madhukar Godbole said that four of its Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers — Officers on Special Duty (OSDs)  DP Singh, Hanuman Prasad Maurya, Daya Nand Prasad and Nitin Madaan — have been transferred to other stations while Additional Secretary Gyanendra Verma has been transferred to Khurja Development Authority as its Secretary.

Six executive engineers — Kaptan Singh, RP Singh, RS Divakar, VK Sonkar, Chakresh Jain and Ashutosh Srivastava have been transferred to other development authorities of the State.

The finance department also faced with staff crunch with Financial Controller Tuli Ram Yadav being transferred. Accounts officer RK Rathi has also been transferred to Allahabad Development Authority. The horticulture department is also a headless since horticulture director SP Sishodia has been transferred to lucknow Development Authority.

The total 17 officers and engineers have been transferred after the Adityanath Yogi Government has enforced its policy of three years of executive engineer at one place and five years of assistant engineer and seven years for junior engineers.

The PCS officers holding OSDs job were transferred immediately after the new Government took charge while other transfers came in phases. Now after the series of transfers  the GDA is facing a officers crunch. With the ongoing projects of elevated road from UP Gate to Rajnagar Extension, DMRC’s Dilshad garden metro extension line up to new bus stand in Ghaziabad, GDA is faced with problems in implantation. There are hosts of other civil works that have been being undertaken by GDA, the official said.

With the introduction of new public grievance system of  the new Government on its accountability - workload on the online IGRS system  has also increased manifold. Under IGRS system, an application reaches to us from different corners for which at least five replies are sent including online too. This has increased a workload” said the officer.

“The Vice-Chairperson (VC) of GDA Kanchan Verma is burning midnight oil to complete work on the same day. Since the VC remains in her office till 9 pm, other staff is also present to comply with the orders and finish the tasks on hand. We hope new officers will be posted to GDA as that would lessen the burden” Godbole added.
