A city court on Friday recorded the statement of a five-year-old girl brutally gangraped by two men in east Delhi’s Gandhinagar locality on April 15.
Additional Sessions Judge, Sanjay Garg, conducting the trial, recorded the deposition of the victim via a video conference. Defence counsel RS Juneja was also present.
The minor, along with her mother and a woman counsel, was present in the Child Witness Court Room (CWCR). “She spoke with the judge and woman counsel. While she was comfortable recording her statement, she could not give too many details,” Rajiv Mohan, a senior public prosecutor said.
The accused Manoj had told his interrogators that on April 15, his friend Pradeep had come to his house and they had consumed alcohol. Manoj claimed that Pradeep insisted on bringing the girl to the house and he went out and lured the girl with chocolate. Manoj also told police that he had not sexually assaulted the girl. He had also claimed that they fled from the house after strangulating her to avoid being identified later and thought that she was dead.
