Four-storey under construction building tilts in Gurugram

Staff Reporter

An under construction four-storied residential building at Sector-57 in Gurugram has started to tilt to one side. A complaint has already been filed by the neighbours in July 2020 to the officials of the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).

“But no action has been taken by the officials yet," the neighbour told this correspondent. The quality of the material used in the construction of the building can be gauged from the fact that the roof of the ground floor was also bent. To prevent this, an iron jack is being used as a support, the worried residents said.

Local resident Sumit Saxena, who had filed the complaint, said that “the construction work at plot number 2476 sector-57 was started in December last year and there were no problems occurred till the three floors construction but when the fourth floor was built in the month of July, this building was slightly  bent. I had complained to the plot owner, but to no avail”.

He also alleged that the matter was also reported to the police but the police refused to file any complaint and suggested the residents to first file a complaint to the HSVP.

“Several officers came to the spot after the complaint and the intervention of the HSVP officials the building owner called two cranes and erected them here. After the officers left, the building owner started sending these cranes back. On this, we informed the police control room and after their intervention the cranes are standing again here,” Sumit, a neighbour said.

“Due to non-action of authority officials, the building owner is getting its construction done. While the ground floor of the building is also bent, this is prevented by supporting Jake. Due to this negligence, the lives of about several families living nearby are at risk,” said Vijay Negi, another neighbour.

“The matter is already in my notice and I am collecting more information about the matter from the concerned official. The issue will be sorted out soon,” said Vivek Kalia, Estate Officer-2, of the HSVP.
