In wake of coronavirus outbreak, the Delhi Police on Friday urged people to follow the lockdown during the holy month of Ramzan.
“Azaan may be carried out in accordance with the NGT guidelines,” police tweeted.
“The pious month of Ramzan starts from 25.04.2020. While observing roza and prayers, we expect everyone to follow lockdown as per the guidelines. Azaan may be carried out in accordance with NGT guidelines. It is requested that Namaz may be performed while staying indoors and have Sehri at home. All must stand united to fight Covid 19 pandemic and follow the guidelines,” the Delhi Police tweeted.
The tweet came after a video went viral on social media where two police personnel were telling persons that the Azaan was not allowed during the lockdown as per Lieutenant Governor’s (L-G) order.
In the video, two policemen said no Azaan can be played in Masjid according to the LG’s order and you can go to the Prem Nagar police station to see the order.
“Observe Ramazan while following the lockdown guidelines,” Delhi LG tweeted.
