Gurgaon police on Monday arrested a choreographer — who reportedly worked with Yashraj Films (YRF) since 2003 — for molesting a woman since the last three months.

The accused was sending her obscene messages and coercing her into striking a friendship. Anu Malhotra, a native of Jalandhar in Punjab, was arrested for sending lewd SMS and threatening calls to a city-based woman.

Police said Malhotra, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Gurgaon, came in contact with a woman who lives in lajpat Nagar a few months ago.

He became friends with her on the pretext of providing employment to her son in the film industry. The accused then started sending lewd text messages to her. Malhotra kept forcing her to meet him during conversations over the phone.

“His behaviour towards her was objectionable. Malhotra continued to harass her despite the woman cautioning him about police action,” said a senior police official.

“The accused had procured 3-4 SIM cards and used to call her from different numbers. We have registered an FIR against Malhotra on the basis of text messages sent to the victim. The accused was arrested from his residence on Monday,” the official added. Malhotra was booked for outraging the modesty of a woman and threatening her, which sent him to 14 days of judicial remand.
