Five police officials have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and murdering a 30-year-old man in South-West Delhi’s Bindapur area. The incident in question took place on Monday afternoon when Manoj (30) was picked up by police officials for questioning. The arrested have been identified as head constable Bhoop Singh, constables Rajesh, Sudeep, Uttam and Arvind. A judicial enquiry has been ordered into the matter.
At around 12 noon, a PCR call was received that a man has been picked up by police officials for questioning. The call was checked and it was revealed that the staff of Bindapur police station had taken Manoj for questioning. “The five police officials did not bring him to the police station for questioning but instead took him to the Old Matiala Chowki which is around 3-km away from the police station for questioning in connection with a firing incident in the area,” said a police official. During interrogation, his health deteriorated and he was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhayay (DDU) Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 1.35 pm. Following his death, family members and relatives of the deceased staged a protest outside the Bindapur police station.
